Editing
National Geographic Traveler
As the magazine’s associate editor, I managed departments, including city guides, road trips, round-ups, travel tips, and nature escapes. My work contributed to Traveler winning a Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition Gold Award for Best Travel Magazine. After I was promoted to editor, I commissioned, edited, and produced many digital feature stories.
National Geographic
I held several roles on the magazine, first coordinating the travel departments, then acting as deputy managing editor for short form, and later becoming editorial manager for multiplatform content. I oversaw all departments and short features, from photo essays to conservation narratives. I also played a key role in the successful redesign of the magazine’s short-form content.
Where Washington
I began as associate editor and later became the lead editor for this monthly that covered sites, attractions, tours, and entertainment for travelers visiting the city. Often I got to take photos, too, like the ones on the cover above and left.
