Editing
Where Washington—I went from associate editor to lead editor for Where’s D.C. market, which published a monthly magazine, annual coffee table books, and digital content tailored to travelers. I wrote and commissioned stories, contributed photography (such as the image above), and interviewed celebrities including Norah O’Donnell and José Andrés. I also edited visitor guides for Alexandria, Virginia, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
National Geographic Traveler—As the magazine’s associate editor, I managed departments, including city guides, road trips, round-ups, travel tips, and nature escapes. My work contributed to Traveler winning a Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition Gold Award for Best Travel Magazine. After I was promoted to editor, I commissioned, edited, and produced many digital feature stories, with an emphasis on sustainability and meaningful travel.
National Geographic—I held several roles on the monthly magazine, first coordinating the travel departments, then acting as deputy managing editor for short form, and later becoming editorial manager for multiplatform content. I oversaw departments and short features, from photo essays to conservation narratives. I also played a key role in the successful redesign of the magazine’s short-form content.
